Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter

HDMI v1.3 compliant supporting Full HD display at 1080P
Aluminum casing minimizes EM interference
Compact design allows unobstructed adjacent port access
Supports HDMI audio passthrough (Macbook white /MacBook Pro 13/15/17" mid-2010 release iMac 21.5/27" early-2010 release)

Moshi's Mini DisplayPort to HDMI signal format adapter is a compact and stylish adapter that can seamlessly connect DisplayPort-based MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro to any HDMI display. Moshi's adapter can support full HD at 1080p. Unlike other adapters, Moshi's adapter has been designed to eliminate clutter and to allow for multiple devices to be connected to adjacent ports at the same time.

Audio pass-through on the miniDP port has now been enabled for the following Apple computer models:

MacBook Pro 13/15/17" mid-2010 release
MacBook (white) mid-2010 release
Mac mini mid-2010 release

Previous generation MacBook and MacBook models only supports video output through miniDP.
Here's the step-by-step instruction to configure video/audio output on the miniDP port:

1. Connect the HDMI cable (not included) via Moshi's Adapter to your TV or AV receiver's HDMI port.
2. Turn on your TV or AV receiver.
3. Open "System Preferences" on your Mac, open the "Sound" option in the "Hardware" category.
4. Click on the "Output" tab and change selection from "Internal Speakers Built-in Output" to "Built-in HDMI Output".
5. Open the "Displays" option in the "Hardware" category to select the appropriate display resolution.
6. Click on the "Arrangement" tab and check the "Mirror Displays" selection.
7. Once configured, you should be able to feed both video and audio streams to your TV or AV receiver.

Q & A
Q: The video and audio works, but all I see is a blank desktop on my TV with no icons?
A: This is because your desktop is configured as "extended" mode on your MacBook. Please go to "System Preferences" -> "Hardware" -> "Displays" and under the "Arrangement" tab, check the "Mirror Displays" box.

Q. The video works fine, but there's no sound?
A. Make sure your MacBook is post mid-2010 release, the earlier MacBook models do not support audio output through its Mini-Displayport. You'll need to get a separate cable for audio output to TV (i.e. 3.5mm mini-stereo to RCA Y-Cable).

Q. I do have the post mid-2010 release MacBook, there's still no sound?
A. Make sure both your HDMI cable and TV are VESA compliant. Some older model TVs only accept video signals on the HDMI input and will require a separate cable for audio input. Please reference this article for further details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241

Q. The video or audio used to work perfectly, but it suddenly stopped working?

A. Sometimes after software updates/installations, the HDMI device (i.e. your TV) must re-establish connection with the MacBook, you can restore connection by reconnecting the adapter and the HDMI cable.

Q. The video looks blurry or out of sync on my TV.
A. Your TV may not support the video resolution of your MacBook. Try different resolution settings on the MacBook by going to "System Preferences" -> "Hardware" -> "Displays" -> "Display" tab.

Q. The video or audio is choppy or comes on and off.
A. Please make sure your cable meets HDMI 1.3 Specification (for more details visit www.hdmi.org). Other possible causes include incompatible video file formats or outdated media playback application.
